Today we have the honor of shining the spotlight on the great Moonie Nova! Who is this fantastical alien vtuber from another world? Why did she decide to come and entertain us on this little rock called earth? What are her inspirations? These and more to follow!

Moonie’s Story!

The staple at this point and what I feel is the most enlightening and inspirational part of any Vtuber is their story. Through all the vtubers we have checked out in the past articles there is absolutely no shortage of strength, perseverance, and quite a bit of hardship at times. In short, there is not a single story that moves me and inspires me to my core and Moonie’s is no exception at all!!

Moonie is an individual who was already totally sold on the idea of content creation before she became a vtuber. Originally, she wanted to be, what some call, an irl streamer. Meaning she was ready to stream with a facecam on and all, contrary to what vtuber content usually holds. She was unable to chase this dream because she had a living situation that was not quite conducive to this life style. Because of all this she began to lose the motivation to show herself and stream.

She later discovered a vtuber duo by the name of HimeHina. They would quickly become her first inspiration as a vtuber, as HimeHina charmed her immediately with their whole vibe. This led to her wanton for a model as well, but alas we all should know that making a model is an art skill with quite a high ceiling, and a hard barrier to entry for most. Because of this she was bummed out for quite some time, that is until a few months later when a bunch of her friends helped teach her how to make and edit models for vrchat. It was around this time that she discovered Vroid as well.

Thus began a new chapter in her life for a while, Her pre-vtuber streams. These streams consisted of her streaming her progress on her vroid model that she would eventually want to use for vtubing. Her streams hold some dear memories to her, as she was recalling all the pain she went through to try and get the hair on the model just the way she wanted to. This led to the birth and subsequent streams under her old name and model, Onryx!

Sadly, she ended up having to take a Hiatus. She was being affected by her toxic family relationship with her brother to continue on.This caused her to lose hope and motivation when it came to streaming, and was self-admittedly one of the darkest moments in her life. Causing her to want to, and actually, quite streaming. This left her with a massive hole, she felt like she was lost and was unsure what to do with her life.

Thankfully, this spark was reignited by another vtuber who came to inspire her! Moonie was recommended a highlight video for MoeNaomii. This time, she was inspired to have an official debut when she started streaming again. Because of this she decided to revamp her whole vtuber brand and thus started her new vtuber journey towards her current model and brand, the alien vtuber named Moonie!

Why an alien?

Why Moonie chose her name and to be an alien vtuber is closely tied to her story as a whole. So I wanted to quickly mention that this is more of a continuation section, with a separation to help out the reading experience. Please continue on and find out why she decided to become an alien vtuber!

Moonie decided that she wanted to revamp and rebrand because she felt that her old model, Onryx, was that girl that was stuck in the past, and she knew she had to change her name. She set the name up Onryx for when her model would eventually become a dragon or a phoenix, but she felt like being an alien vtuber was just so much more natural and personal for her. She was always called the alien or chameleon child growing up in her family. The chameleon was because she was always blending into everything and scaring the crap out of her family, and alien because she was the quite one in her family out of a whole family known for being raucous. Because of this, she really liked the idea of being an alien. She said that it is like being not so normal in a cool way, and I found that to be quite the adorable and perfect way to put it.

She decided that she did not want to be the typical green alien design, and already knew what she wanted for her outfit. She wanted to sort of mimic the outfit from her favorite fashion brand from an anime. She then had to come up with a name, she had a couple up her sleeve and asked her friends and mods to help her vote and decide what to pick. They all eventually landed on Moonie, and it was a perfect fit. Also, her favorite symbol is a crescent moon so that fits to her character even more! Lastly, she knew that she wanted to have professional quality, so she commissioned a few folks to help her out with her model and thus Moonie Nova was born!!!

Goals

I of course had to ask her what some of her goals were when she decided to become a vtuber. There have been myriads of answers, and the important thing here is that all have been quite important. Often times, goals can shift and change as we do and this is something we see with Moonie!

Moonie’s first goal when she started was just to make friends! She was in a situation where she was unable to talk to friends offline, so she had to rely on the friendship of those she made while streaming. She later realized that she was using streaming to escape the negatives of the real world. She would escape all the mental and emotional abuse that she was living through. This was all until she found out about vtubers. She decided that she wanted to have a better goal for streaming when she decided to get into vtubing.

Her goal and purpose for streaming went from escaping the hells of her life, to that of helping. What she felt was and is her ultimate goal with streaming and her space was to help others and uplift those that she can reach. She wants to create a safe space that those who are struggling may find solace and happiness in as well. She often has the goal to do charity streams as well to try and help those who are worse off! All incredibly noble goals that you will see, totally leaks into her personality and streaming style!

Content

Twitch

We all know the old saying by now I am sure, but content is king. This is something that, any online creator who creates knows like the back of their hand. So with that said what is the type of content that Moonie makes over on her twitch? Well with a brief look over at her current twitch channel you will see that she does variety gaming streams. You will find FPS games, some animal crossing, and just semi recently, a couple of scary games. She is like me in that she admits she does not do well with horror so that one was a special treat. You can also see some just chatting streams as well as some vrchat streams!

But what about her streaming style? When it comes to transformative content, 30 creators can all play the same video game and bring a different content style to the table. There are literally millions of people streaming games, so how would I describe Moonie’s style? Quite parallel to what she wanted with her goals. I was always welcomed so warmly whenever I was a viewer. She is quite interactive and has such a fun time with all of her streams! She welcomes all and brings some puntastic puns at times as well! She is truly a unique streaming gem that you have to check out to get the full feel for, but I can guarantee that you will feel relaxed, have some laughs, and leave a lot happier than when you first showed up!

Any behind the scenes plans?

I was quite curious as to what Moonie may be up to behind the scenes that may link back to her content. She said that she is thinking about getting back into youtube, but that she had to delete some old videos that she felt were cringe before setting it all up again. She was also thinking about doing some tiktoks as well for some further content from her as well. Keep your eyes peeled because I certainly can’t wait to drop her a sub and check out what sorts of short styled content she creates!!
