Today’s vtuber spotlight is on Kiara, aka Lil Nosferatu. I have been very excited to write about her, as she is one of my early supporters and a really great friend. What sort of content does she make? What sort of approach does she take towards content creation? Is this just the start, or close to the end of her vtuber goals? Let’s find out!
Disclaimer: all art used and shown today are not my own. As with all my other vtuber spotlights, I will link the art back to their illustrator’s when needed or possible. With that out of the way it is time to jump in!
Story.
Vtuber’s have such amazing stories. They are a type of streamer who have to make the conscious decision to become a vtuber instead of what is called an IRL streamer. This is often quite intriguing because vtubers are still considered niche, and not mainstream. So there is always a different way they are found, and different reasons and motivations are often given for why they became one. So what is Kiara’s story?
Kiara has always wanted to be a content creator for a long time. Before she started doing vtubing she was already making tiktok compilations, shitposts, and art and gaming videos and memes for years before she decided on vtubing. Yet, she considered this lower tier content because she felt she would eventually have to show her face and voice to gain any traction on any platform. Although she really wanted to become a content creator, she was suffering from what I think a lot of us suffer from, lack of confidence.
Then about 2 years ago, right before the big vtuber boom of 2020, a channel she follows over on youtube did an experimental video with what is vtuber technology. They basically got a vtuber model and rigged it and hopped over to omeagle to see the reactions of others, which inspired Kiara and had her asking herself, “how do I do that?”. She then went searching around and found a software on steam for facerig, that had a dlc for Live2d avatars and she was blown away even farther by the technical side of vtubing. She was pulled in by the main appeal of vtubing; which is the idea that one can just become an anime character on screen.
This was all before she even knew what vtubers were. So suffice it to say, she was incredibly blown away by it. Having been thoroughly impressed, she wanted in on this. She wanted to find a way to get a custom Live2d model, and at the time there were no beginner tutorials on Live2d. You either figured out how to use it yourself, which would take countless hours for one who is not experienced, or commission one. Sadly for her, the commission option was out of her budget range as well, so she settled for a free to use Live2d model she found on steam workshop and started streaming on DLive.
DLive was really active back then, and she found instant success. She walked away from her first stream, where she had no followers, with 30 viewers and 6 dollars in lemons (think twitch bits). She was not expecting this kind of turn out and she found it to be incredibly fun, so naturally she was drawn in farther into the world of vtubing. Sadly, because of her full time job that required insane work weeks, she just did not have the energy to keep going She even went through a bout of depression during this time.
All those negative issues led to her not making any content at all until last year. Her little sisters got her back into posting art on YouTube through their own channels. Her little sisters would post art on their channels, make memes, etc and do it with no hesitation. Seeing their genuine fun on the platform inspired to to once again take up the content creation torch. She always stifled her creativity by asking herself whether or not what she was making was worth posting, but seeing them post anything and everything they made with no hesitation really got her back into creating. I know I can be guilty of this myself already as well, so I know that I can take a page from her sisters books as well!
At this time she considered branching out into doing an art commentary focused channel, but found out about a huge piece of drama that permanently changed the scene. Not wanting that sort of stress, she decided to go back into Live2d. she did not know about the indie vtuber boom that followed, all she knew was that all of the sudden, finding Live2d tutorials was very easy compared to before. With that all said and done, she created a simple model to start with and decided to play a game that she felt no one would watch to practice speaking on camera. That game is still up on her YouTube channel to this day, it was the 102 dalmatians.
After she uploaded those videos was when she finally migrated onto twitter. She then found the vtuber community here and finally branded herself a vtuber. She feels like she did things sort of backwards, because she is just now learning about Hololive and other corporate vtubers. She says it has definitely been a learning experience for her.

Why your current model design?

I have seen many others say this, but vtuber models are just another tool that a streamer uses. So of course there must be a reason each and every vtuber decides on their model. For that reason I was curious about why she settled with her really interesting design.
She said that she settled on Kiara because it was an OC that she created roughly fifteen years ago. When she used the internet back in the day, there was always worries of child predators. Because of this she always used the alias of Kiara when surfing the internet. Because of this she felt it was only natural to make that her vtuber persona as well.
What about the demon design that she has as well? Well she stated that it came from her drawing Kiara as a furry one day. She felt that it was so adorable, that this was the original design that she ran with for a while. Later she decided to make her a cat girl when she decided to try out Vroid, which led to the furry design being somewhat scrapped. Though she had a hard time deciding which of the two designs she wanted to use so she settled on making her the demon form of Kiara. Because of this, she wants to eventually make a model that can switch between the 2 at the toggle of a switch, and she says that is her eventual goal.
Content.
Twitch.
At the time of my interview with her, she was not yet streaming on twitch. A day before writing this though, I was able to catch her live on twitch. Because of that I asked if she was streaming at all or if it was just youtube content. She said that she planned to do her gaming content on twitch and stream those, and leave the content that requires more editing for YouTube.
So what vibe did I get from her as a viewer when she was streaming? As a viewer, I felt comfy, like I was watching a friend play a game. Which is what I feel like most strive for in basic concept. She had some really funny moments and was so kind and responsive to us in chat. as well as little to no technical issues. She is also playing a really interesting game at the moment and offered some great insight into the game she was playing as well.
YouTube.
When it comes to all her other content, you can find that over on her YouTube I linked above. A quick glance will tell you that she is someone who is not afraid to experiment with her content. She makes speed paints, animations, MMD, she has previous gaming content, She also has tutorials and skits. There is a little something for everyone over on her YouTube channel.
As a viewer, they are done incredibly well. I mostly stuck with the recent content, but her animations are short form content that gets the point across quickly, and are beautifully done. I think her editing is stunning and all the hard work that she puts into it clearly shows. When you watch her whether it is her YouTube or her Twitch, you know you’ll get quality content.
Goals.
I was curios if she had any goals when she out to do content creation as a whole. was she someone who wanted to better herself? Was the goal to make it a full time career? Was she creating because she always wanted to have a community around her?
She states that she did not have any clear goals when she started out with content creation. She mostly just wanted to have fun with it, and decided later that a personal goal would be to overcome her anxiety. She has a lot of anxiety still to this day when she is about to hit the go live button, and it is something I struggle with as well. So for that I find it to be inspirational!! She also said that if it became monetize-able, that would also be great, but that is not her goal in any sense. She mostly just wants to ride it out and have fun with her content.
Closing.
I want to share a couple small bits she shared with me about her content on twitch. I asked if there are any running gags or commands she plans to use. She said that she plans to have a lot of channel points be dedicated to old MLG green screen memes and I find that idea hilarious. She also told me she is working on Vroid modelling to hopefully one day sell. Lastly, in a couple of days she is about to start her first round of art fight! Because of all this, and because of how stellar and awesome she has been, please check her out and send her a ton of love and support. She was such a blast to talk to and I really think she deserves the world. I have links through the blog to find her at her various locations so please check out Kiara!
