This week’s spotlight is on fellow English vtuber named Pending. I will be covering some of their content and projects they are working on as well as a brief summary of their lead up and inspiration to start vtubing. If this all sounds interesting then please read on ahead!

Finding a genre that he didn’t know he would have a passion for.

Here I would love to try and summarize what Pending sent me over on twitter. I asked him if he had told his story on what led him to becoming a vtuber. He responded with what follows.

Vtubing is a concept we all learn about differently. Pending was a content consumer with no idea of the world of vtubing. Then one day he had a YouTube recommendation pop up in his feed for a compilation video for Kizuna Ai. After scrolling past it and ignoring it a couple times, it’s persistence drew him in and he watched the video. He found that it was quite funny and decided to go over to her channel and started watching her content. It wasn’t until later that he found Kaguya Luna that his curiosity was peaked. He found out that vtubing was indeed a genre and was wondering if there were any English speaking vtubers out there he could watch.

Upon searching he found an English vtuber named Rhythm, who has retired the character and is making other content to this day. With her permission he would take some of her streams and create compilation videos out of them. Through this he learned the basics of video editing, all while making new vtubing friends through her community. Seeing those new friends and others creating content sparked some motivation within himself to try and make some. Initially he was intimidated, as I am sure anyone would be, but he went ahead and started vtubing. He really has a passion for writing and was really hoping that vtubing would be a great medium to express himself and his writing, thus he started telling stories on YouTube through vtubing. He commissioned his model from Rhythm which was his original 2d model, He currently uses a 3d model made by Argama Witch. He expressed that, like many others, he found a lot of new friends in the vtuber community and they helped encourage him to keep going on his projects.

Pending’s vtuber content.

Pending, as stated above, got started on and through his YouTube channel. This is THE place to find his skit type content. If you are like me and you love skit based content you are sure to love his content and get stuck watching for hours. Lots of the skit content is short, which is what really makes a skit, making them easy to binge and watch one after the other. I included one above that he linked me and I liked a lot. his type of comedic writing definitely shows and feels very unique and on point for the vtubing community as well as for a general audience. I also will embed one below that I also really liked when going through his content.

I really liked this as well. In tandem with the first skit I showed I love the way that the characters bounce of of each other. I think that the new character introduced here really bounces off of Pending’s vtuber character shown in this skit, elevating each character allowing us to see more of what we might not see alone.

If you want to also catch him live you can do so on his twitch as well. I have tried embeding twitch clips in the past and was unsuccessful. If I could I would but please do go to his twitch and check out his content there I was watching some through the week and absolutely love the vibe he gives off. His streams,to me, felt very fun and cozy, they felt super fun and they were funny as well. You can tell that he has a very inviting and kind energy to his streaming style and the care he has for his friends, collaborators, and community over there shines through. I found a lot of gaming content over there and he told me right now they are into Genshin Impact.

Demonic Heroism: Pending’s animated manga.

Pending is also working as a writer for an animated manga project called Demonic Heroism. You can find more character sheets over here if you want to follow the project. He said himself that there is not much to share at the moment but the characters posted over there including Lily up above are amazing. It is coming out in May so do be on the look out for that. This was a passion project done by Pending, Eisu as their artist, and Suiren their editor.

Pending found the community in a way I am sure that a lot of us find relatable. I know I had a similar path towards finding vtubing, and the fact that he just went and starting working on something he wanted to is inspiring.
