Sour Boys Review

So I went ahead and bought the Sour Boys. gg and I just had to give them a review. They are definitely a treat but how good are they really? From packaging, to the marketing that I experienced, to the actual taste lets see if they are just a sour experience.

As far as introductions go I can quickly introduce the creators of sour boys in case you do not know. It was a company started by youtubers Oompaville and Rifty and all the marketing has been through them. Now as someone who loves Oompaville’s videos I had to buy myself the first edition of his candy. It was great because I love his content, always try to support creators however I can, and I am an avid sour candy eater. So naturally all the marketing I saw was through Oompaville’s channel and twitter, but I was sold on the initial announcement.

So lets start with the most important part of any type of snack or food item, how do they taste? I personally love them, as I know taste is subjective I will try my best to explain. I only got to try the rainbow flavor so if you are thinking of getting the strawberry I can’t personally say if that will hold up, but it most likely will. The candy tastes like it was well thought out, tested, and had time and actual care put into them. The rainbow tastes like an assortment of fruit flavors one might find mashed together in fruit rollups, starburst, skittles, etc. They also definitely live up to being sour, they are not warhead strong, thankfully, as he goes for a nice blend of sweet and sour that you can enjoy all at once. They are also dusted with loose sugar which helps add to that sour fruity taste. If you love fruity flavors or tastes there is no going wrong with their brand of candy here. The roll form factor is also amazing because it lets you as a consumer control the level of sour by eating one strip at a time, or just taking a massive bite of the entire roll.

The back has just as much character as the front of the bag!

Next, naturally, is a touch up on the ingredients. After all that is what makes the candy taste the way that it does. Now I am certainly no dietician and nor would I claim any authority to know what the more scientific ingredients are. All I can say is that as a layman consumer I loved turning over the packaging to find the ingredients list small, but also full of mostly things that I can understand. I may not know what exactly is in the flavoring, but I can appreciate seeing wheat flour vegetable oil, and fruit extract as those are all easily understandable.

I absolutely love the art!

I am not totally sure who they got to do the packaging art, but I absolutely love it. It totally encapsulates Oompaville’s style and personality in his videos. It is really well done and has a small layer of humor too it, yet conveys how you will feel as you eat the candy. I absolutely love the line at the top right that says “Rip here bruh”. It is so succinct and yet it just screams Ooompaville. Little details like that and the overall art have made me actually want to hold onto the bags after purchasing them simply for how great they look.

Lastly, I loved the whole shopping experience. I would say that their site designer did an incredibly job making the site easy to navigate, and look amazing as well. It is full of graphics and the style that the candy bags themselves follow. I once tried to buy a chair from a site that wouldn’t let my card go through and I immediately moved sites and bought a different chair, same price, with the same card. This is something that I always worry about when it comes to smaller sites and a shopping experience. Now I tried to resolve the issue with them but there was no luck on that front. So that ties back to this because I was worried my card may not go through but the shopping experience was flawless. Now because of this I did not have to go through the process of trying to reach out, but I have seen Oompaville actively interact with his community on twitter, especially when it comes to his candy and I have faith that he would get back to you if you ever had any issues.

On that note if I had to rate the candy it would be a 10 out of 10. It honestly is good enough to be some of my favorite candy, up there with Fruit by the Foot and Reese’s sticks. So if you haven’t gone on to buy any I urge you to use the links above and buy them. I am not sponsored by them, I just love the candy so much I hope you all go grab some for yourself.
